Atomic Glue used with the Atomic Expander can fill in small missing fiberglass, wood, porcelain, and plastic pieces and once filled in it can be sanded smooth and painted.
Designed for the aerospace industry, Atomic
Glue works on a wide variety of
materials—even rubber, metal, and wood.
Unlike other glues that dry faster than you can
apply them, Atomic Glue stays wet until you
press the pieces together, curing almost
instantly.
For an in depth description of the kit read below:
Atomic Glue is more than an adhesive, more than super glue, more than you expect!
Atomic Glue is different because it is not like other adhesives such as epoxies, water based adhesives, super glues, etc. All of these just like Atomic Glue have their place and no one adhesive is a complete and total solution for all repairs. Atomic Glue is unique in the adhesive world in that it works similar to an epoxy in some cases and a super glue in some cases, yet is not like either in chemistry or the way it
works!
Atomic Glue is a three part system made up of an adhesive, an expander and a cleaner. The three work together to create a system for repairs unlike any of the others.
Atomic Glue: Atomic Glue by its self is very similar to a super glue in that it is clear and quickly and permanently bond many materials together. The major difference between super glue and Atomic Glue is Atomic Glue cures anaerobically, or outside the presence of oxygen. Where super glues will dry very quickly once outside the bottle Atomic Glue
will not dry until air is removed from being in contact with the liquid adhesive. This
means that you have plenty of time to apply the glue and make the alignment prior to
pressing the two pieces together. One the two pieces touch the air is not present and
Atomic Glue will set almost instantly!
Atomic Glue by itself will bond skin, wood, many plastics, vinyl, leather, slate, granite,
steel, copper, aluminum, rubber, glass, ceramics etc. Atomic Glue does not work the
same on all surfaces and works best on non-porous surfaces such as vinyl, plastic,
rubber, steel etc. It is important to understand the way Atomic Glue bonds things
together is different from material to material. Some materials such as rubber, vinyl,
and steel require very little Atomic Glue, in fact too much glue will prevent the bond
from being as strong as it could. When bonding using just Atomic Glue (no expander) on
non-porous surfaces you want to place just a drop of Atomic Glue on one side only and
only enough to cover the surface once the two pieces are touched together. The bond
will happen very quickly once touched together so make sure the alignment is correct
the first time as you may not be able to take them apart again. Keep in mind that
Atomic Glue will spread over the surface when the two pieces are pressed together. If
too much glue is applied the bond will be weak. LESS IS MORE!
When bonding porous materials together or porous materials to non-porous more
Atomic Glue is required. Cover the entire surface on one side only with Atomic Glue and
then press the two pieces together, hold for several seconds and possibly for a minute
or more while the bond takes place. Allow to cure over a period of time such as an hour
or more prior to placing extreme pressure on them to pull apart.
Atomic Glue will only work if there are no gaps or spaces between the pieces. If gaps or
spaces exist Atomic Glue is not the correct adhesive on its own as it is not a filler.
Atomic Glue and Atomic Expander:
Atomic Glue works in conjunction with Atomic Expander to fill gaps and provide a strong
bond between two pieces that need to have the glue provide a filler for strength.
Atomic Glue with Atomic Expander will only work when the gap is open and available to
apply the Glue and then the Expander over it directly, you cannot use it to fill as small
gap between two pieces where you want the adhesion to penetrate down between two
pieces such as gluing two blocks of wood together and in the middle there were a gap,
you cannot apply Atomic Glue and then apply Atomic Expander and then press the two
blocks together as the bond is instantly complete as soon as the expander is applied as it removes the air. You can take two blocks and apply the Glue in the crack and then the
Expander. This will fill the crack instantly and bond the two pieces together. IF the
crack is small and you cannot get the Expander down in the crack easily the expander
will react with the Glue near the surface and fill the gap bonding the two together but
the center will not be glued.
Atomic Glue and Expander has many, many uses and is what truly sets the Atomic Glue
System apart from other adhesives. You can quickly and easily repair breaks in many
materials using both the Glue and Expander and be ready to file or sand the repair
immediately. A good example would be a fiberglass piece that is broken, cracked or
has a chunk missing. Apply tape or some other material to provide a temporary barrier
to hold the Glue and Expander. Apply the Glue first to the sides of the material then
gently apply Expander. You will see the Glue absorb into the Expander and set
immediately. Apply more Glue and Expander building up the gap until you have filled in
the gap. You now can file, sand or otherwise prepare the repair for finishing if you
desire.
Atomic Cleaner:
Atomic Cleaner has a dual purpose to be a surface prep to clean the surface of any oil
or material that would prevent the Atomic Glue from bonding to the surface and can
also be used to release Atomic Glue if you bond something small together that you
want apart. NOTE: if you bond two pieces together and the bond is wide and deep you
may not be able to get Atomic Cleaner to penetrate deep into the glued area to get the
Glue to release.
You also can clean up Atomic Glue from surfaces that the Glue was applied to or
dripped on where you do not want it. NOTE: Test the surface of the material to be
cleaned in an inconspicuous place to be sure that Atomic Cleaner will not damage the
surface.
Overall Atomic Glue is a highly valuable product for many repairs. Use the Glue sparingly, keep refrigerated once opened and use very little on non-porous materials and use plenty of the glue on porous materials. If you bond your fingers together use Atomic Cleaner or roll your fingers apart, DONOT PULL APART!
NOTE: Atomic Glue has up to 5000 psi of bonding strength, up to 650 degrees F and minus 60 degrees F. Atomic Glue bonds instantly when and is strongest when pieces are tested pulling laterally apart.
When glued items are peeled apparat Atomic Glue will separate quite easily after first applied. The bond will strengthen over time but is not nearly as strong when peeling as when pulled. Also if items glued together are struck with a sharp blow will fracture at the joint and the items will come apart.
Atomic Glue is a very hard material when cured and bonds on this principal. Sharp blows will fracture the Atomic Glue bond.
Works on most everything except:
Cloth, Teflon, Polyethylene and Polypropylene
Holds up to 5000# and work up to 650
degrees F and -60 degrees F.
Atomic Glue is designed to meet the stringent standards of the aerospace industry.
Directions for use:
There are three parts: Atomic Cleaner, Atomic Glue and Atomic Expander.
To glue a broken piece, or bond two things together:
1. Open Atomic Glue by cutting the tip off the applicators on an angle.
2. Atomic Glue will not dry out until it is shielded from air, so take your time.
3. Thoroughly clean the surface to be bonded by removing any dirt or debris, lightly sanding if necessary to clean.
4. Apply a drop or two of Atomic Glue to ONLY ONE SIDE (will not work if applied to both sides) of the area to be bonded. Use as little as possible to cover the entire area that is to be bonded. Keep in mind Atomic Glue will spread on its own when the two pieces are pressed together, so you need not apply to entire surface. For non-porous surfaces it is important to use a very small amount as too much will prevent a strong bond.
5. Press the two pieces together, being careful to get the alignment correct the first time as Atomic Glue will react instantly and you will not be able to pull the pieces apart.
6. In the event you want to release Atomic Glue once you place the two pieces together, you MAY be able to do this if the glued surface area is small. Use Atomic Cleaner directly on the joint to attempt to release Atomic Glue.
7. NOTE: Atomic Glue works best on non-porous materials. If gluing a porous material such as wood, pottery, etc. it will be necessary to use more glue and cover the entire surface with glue.
Make sure there is no air present in the bond or Atomic Glue will not set, if there is a gap use Atomic Expander.
To repair a hole or fill in a gap:
1. Thoroughly clean the surface to be bonded by removing any dirt or debris, lightly sanding if necessary to clean.
2. Apply Atomic Expander directly onto Atomic Glue at the hole or gap. Atomic Glue and Atomic Expander will expand and harden instantly, either closing the hole or gap completely, or narrowing the hole or gap. If the hole or gap is not filled completely and sealed, then repeat steps two and three until the hole/gap is sealed. You can file or sand the seal area immediately.
Atomic Glue can be used on porcelain, glass, pottery, wood, marble, stone, slate, steel, copper, aluminum, most plastics, rubber, neoprene, vinyl. NOTE: success with each material will differ based upon the amount needed to be used, time to set and if the Atomic Expander will be needed to bond the
two pieces together. Experimentation may be necessary to find the correct combination.
When finished with Atomic Glue tap the bottle on a table or hard surface to clear the tip, then squeeze the bottle when upright to ensure the tip is clear.
NOTE: STORE IN REFIGERATOR BEFORE AND AFTER
OPENING TO ENSURE ONE YEAR OR MORE OF SHELF LIFE. AVOID EXPOSURE OF UNUSED PRODUCT TO EXTREME HEAT OR DIRECT SUNLIGHT. Do not clean the tip with a needle! This will contaminate the
glue and it will harden in the bottle.
FDA approved. Atomic Glue Can be used on dentures. Make sure all surfaces are dry before application.
WARNING:
Avoid contact with skin, it will bond skin. If skin is bonded, do not pull directly away. Slowly
peel the skin away from one corner. If this does not work, consult a physician.
Contact a physician immediately if product comes in contact with eyes.
